Welcome to Fitness Concepts FIRST blog entry!

Our goal is to use this blog as a way to keep you informed about the latest and greatest programs that Fitness Concepts can offer you. We are also hoping to post a lot of great fitness and nutritional advice for you.  Here are some cool things that are happening this month at Fitness Concepts....

New Training Facility

If you haven't had a chance to check out our new facility, take a walk over. We have new spaces for Group Training, Boxing, Kettlebells and more. Stay tuned for new boxing classes, group trainings, kettlebell trainings and open gym times.

Biggest Loser

We had over 90 participants sign up for our Biggest Loser Program! Congratulations to the partipants on the first week of your journey!

Quick Tips:

Fitness - You should be doing some type of cardio workout at least 3 times a week for 30 - 45 minutes. An easy way to tell if you are working hard enough....if you can sing, you are NOT working hard enough...If you can't talk you are pushing a little too hard. A Polar Heart Rate Monitor is a great investment, because it not only monitors your heart rate, it will also tell you how many calories you have burned. You want to make sure to get in some strength training  (2x a week) outside of the Biggest Loser training sessions. If you are new to the club and aren't sure which machines/classes are appropriate for your fitness level, please make sure to schedule your 3 free training sessions with one of our personal trainers.

Nutrition - A quick and easy way to get a better handle on portion sizes is to DITCH YOUR DINNER PLATES! Americans have lost sight of what a true portion size is. Eat ALL of your meals on a salad plate. Using this easy method, you will be sure to cut calories and get a better sense of what a true portion looks like without weighing and measuring your food. Remember that in general a meat serving is a deck of cards, a serving of rice/pasta is the size of a tennis ball and you always want to load up on green leafy vegetables!
